As you can see, we ship pretty much anywhere. Why not save some shipping hassle and read the notes below… a few pointers for each shipping ‘zone’.
Everywhere: Shipments are calculated by weight and by volumetric weight. Our online order system calculates this better than anything else and will give you rates based on what you have ordered and where you are. We do get discounts, and we pass them on to you. Oh and yes, you will need to sign up so the system knows where you are.
United States: For small shipments, Small Packet Air postal service is cheaper than shipping within Canada, but is not traceable and takes up to 10 days. (So far, we have never lost a shipment)! There are weight limits for this service at 1KG. We have pretty good ground rates with UPS, but if you need it sooner than 6 days, it will be pricey! I have heard that shipments under $200.00 do not incur Brokerage fees, and I know that Air Shipments have a fixed and smaller brokerage fee, so for medium weight/dollar shipments, sometimes air can actually be cheaper! Important! – see ‘Brokerage’ below.
International: Like the US, for small shipments, Small Packet Air postal service is cheaper than shipping within Canada, but is not traceable and takes up to 10 days. There are weight limits for this service at 2KG. Here’s the thing, International shipments are often delivered sooner that 10 days! There are other postal options like Express Post that nicely fill the price gap between postal and courier. Courier is Expensive, even with our discount. Important! – see ‘Brokerage’ below.
Canada: If you think you will get the best rate ’cause we are here, you’re wrong! Postal is almost always the best bet, there are several options, heavy shipments go UPS.
Will I have to pay customs fees on my order?
Your order will probably be charged customs fees (taxes, duties, processing fees, brokerage fees, etc.) when it arrives. Unfortunately, Small Box Hardware has no control over these fees. If you are not familiar with the customs fees in your country, please check with your local customs office for more information. Also, because we are a retail store, we are NOT able to mark orders as ‘Gifts’ for customers to avoid paying these fees.
The shipping charges you pay to Small Box Hardware do NOT include customs fees, import taxes, brokerage fees, or duties. If you refuse to pay the customs fees when your order arrives, the shipment will be returned to Small Box Hardware and we will be charged the customs fees plus return shipping costs. Therefore, we do not issue refunds for customs fees, shipping, or the cost of your order if you refuse to pay the customs fees.
Small Box Hardware has no way of estimating customs fees, taxes, duties, etc. so please do not ask us to do so – we don’t have this information. Please contact your local customs office if you need to know more.
It is possible that the delivery of your order could be delayed due to customs processing. If your order does not arrive in a reasonable amount of time, you should check with your local customs office to see if they are holding the package for payment of fees. Also, some customs offices will send a separate invoice for your customs fees that could arrive several weeks after you receive your shipment. Please be familiar with the customs laws in your country before you order!
